Uptown Optical, located at 111  N. Higgins Avenue  in the downtown section of beautiful Missoula, Montana is a locally owned and operated  optical boutique.  This retro shop displays a vast array of authentic vintage eyeglass frames as well as modern designer pieces.  The owner,  Mary Shull,  was raised in rural western Montana, and many of  her vintage frames are from the original inventory of her father who is an optometrist.  Apprenticing under her father's direction from a very young age, Mary has over 30 years of optical experience combined with good old-fashioned customer service.   You are  welcome to come in and try on the latest trends in eyewear as well as the fun, retro frames!  These pieces are a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art, and your prescription lenses can be fabricated to fit them beautifully in the on-site lab.  Designer frames featured in the shop include Alain Mikli,  WOOW,  Etnia Barcelona,  Oakley, Rayban,  Seraphin, OGI,  Jimmy Choo,  Morel France 1880, Oga, Hugo Boss,  Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs,   Anglo American Optical, Allyn Scura, and ProDesign Eyewear .  Same-day service is available for many Rx's.

"My father has been  a practicing optometrist for over 40 years in western Montana.  Long before the days of big box optical retailers, the optometrist was your "one stop" facility for an eye examination, eyeglasses  and contact lenses.  The optometrist did the complete eye examination, helped you select the frame and often, as was the case with my father, had an on-site laboratory and  fabricated the prescription lenses themselves.  Much time and expertise was committed to the frame selection and fit which is so important in the success of the Rx.  You could be assurred of regular maintainance on your eyeglasses in the months that followed after the purchase .  Your optometrist was not only your eye doctor, but also your friend and neighbor whose children went to school with your own or sat beside  you in church.  I like to think that I have taken much of Dad's way of doing business with me when I opened Uptown Optical.  It's not just about the eyeglass sale, it's about relationships and taking care of my customers."
